9月28日 祝我生日快乐…… 17岁了
09.28.05 (4:54 am)   [edit]

my first entry - ♂Ŧħę Unique Ŋi€
05.01.05 (8:02 pm)   [edit]
With the year passing by, time wait for no man. I found my self slacking back over the past year. Now, my grand opening of my personal web log to publication consisting my primarily of periodic articles. Although most early weblogs were manually updated, tools to automate the maintenance of such sites made them accessible to a much larger population, and the use of some sort of browser-based software is now a typical aspect of "blogging".

Blogs range in scope from individual diaries to arms of political campaigns, media programs, and corporations. They range in scale from the writings of one occasional author, to the collaboration of a large community of writers. Many weblogs enable visitors to leave public comments, which can lead to a community of readers centered around the blog; others are non-interactive. The totality of weblogs or blog-related websites is often called the blogosphere. When a large amount of activity, information and opinion erupts around a particular subject or controversy in the blogosphere, it is sometimes called a blogstorm or blog swarm.

The format of weblogs varies, from simple bullet lists of hyperlinks, to article summaries or complete articles with user-provided comments and ratings. Individual weblog entries are almost always date and time-stamped, with the newest post at the top of the page, and reader comments often appearing below it. Because incoming links to specific entries are important to many weblogs, most have a way of archiving older entries and generating a static address for them; this static link is referred to as a permalink. The latest headlines, with hyperlinks and summaries, are frequently offered in weblogs in the RSS or Atom XML format, to be read with a feed reader.

The tools for editing, organizing, and publishing weblogs are variously referred to as "content management systems", "publishing platforms", "weblog software", and simply "blogware".
So what am I waiting for? Already using blog since past year, cant benefit any traffic, and now decided to evolve my creative and diligence with my initiative to run all my blog's. All of my ISP blog would be the same events & highlights.

‘Maths’ is a correct term
01.13.05 (4:44 am)   [edit]

I TAUGHT English for many years and I can only say that if I was not proficient in the language I would have been relieved of my duties. I concur with Sze Gin (Jan 6) that if a teacher is not completely proficient in English that he/she should not be teaching English.

It is shameful that even The Star, as well as other businesses, seem to refuse to check their English before publishing. Lay persons can be excused for making mistakes. However, shame on the Government, schools, businesses, etc, for not checking properly for the correct English. It is disheartening to see signs around Kuala Lumpur with incorrect spelling and incorrect English usage.

I often see on TV publishers advertising their books on mathematics using the term “maths”. Textbooks published in the US do not use that term, and most likely will tell you it is wrong. Further, any native English-speaking person will tell you that it is wrong.

Throughout the world we use the term “MATH”. For example, “Have you done your math?” “Do you like math”? “I am doing my mathematics”.

I have taught mathematics (math) for many years in the US and I never saw the word “maths” or ever heard anyone use that term. I never saw this term used in the UK or in any other part of the world.
– Ed Symonds, Kuala Lumpur

Ed: It is not true that “maths” is not used in the UK and other parts of the world. The Collins and Oxford dictionaries, just to name two, define “maths” as being the same as “mathematics”. Just go to a search engine and type the word “maths” and you’ll also find the term used on many UK websites. Just a few examples: www.nrich.maths.org/public/index.php (University of Cambridge project) www.bbc.co.uk/education/mathsfile/in dex.shtml (BBC, which runs ‘The Maths File Game Show’) www.mathsrevision.net/gcse/index.php (GCSE Maths revision)

“Maths” is also used in New Zealand (see www.nzmaths.co.nz). And in Australia (see www.teachingtreasures.com.au/maths/Maths_more.html).

Even in France (see www.maths.net).

In Malaysia, which adheres to British English, “maths” has been in use for as long as I can remember.

2004 Indian Ocean earthquake
01.13.05 (4:35 am)   [edit]
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was an undersea earthquake that occurred at 00:58:53 UTC (07:58:53 local time) on December 26, 2004. The earthquake generated tsunamis that were among the deadliest disasters in modern history. At a magnitude of 9.0, it was the largest earthquake since the 9.2 magnitude Good Friday Earthquake off Alaska in 1964, and tied for fourth largest since 1900.

The earthquake originated in the Indian Ocean just north of Simeulue island, off the western coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The resulting tsunamis devastated the shores of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and other countries with waves of up to 15 m (50 feet) high, even reaching the east coast of Africa, 4500 km (2,800 miles) west of the epicenter.

At least 159,700 people are known to have died as a result of the tsunamis and the count is still taking place. The true final toll may never be known due to bodies swept out to sea, but it is likely to be higher than the current estimate. Relief agencies warn of the possibility of more deaths to come as a result of epidemics caused by poor sanitation, but the threat of starvation seems now to have been largely averted [1] (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/as...). The plight of the many affected people and countries prompted a widespread humanitarian response

Just a little X'mas treats...

Why is December 24th called "Christmas Eve"?
In old times, days started at sunset, so the evening of the day, the "eve" happened first. Then we changed to days starting at midnight. So now the "eve" is evening of the previous day. So "Christmas Eve" is the day before Christmas.

Where does the word "Christmas" come from?
Christmas = Christ - Mass = "The Mass of Christ"
Christ = Jesus Christ
"Mass" = Roman Catholic religious Church service of "mass".
The word "mass" probably comes from the last words of the service of "mass", which are "you are dismissed" = "missa est" in Latin.
From the Latin word "missa" comes the English word "mass"

Ipoh-born Foo helps ‘Spidey’ come alive
09.13.04 (10:31 pm)   [edit]
Monday September 13, 2004

IPOH: The next time you see Spider-Man swinging effortlessly, hanging from his web or battling villain Doc Ock in the latest Spider-Man movie, take note – a Malaysian is responsible for making it all come to life.

Not many are aware that Ipoh-born Foo Sing-Choong, 34, a senior technical director for Sony Pictures Imageworks, was in charge of the characters’ visual effects on film.

“Basically, I supervise the overall look and shading of characters like Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus so that they blend realistically in the background, by using computer graphics.

“In the first movie, I was only responsible for the look of Spider-Man,” the former SMK Poi Lam student modestly said here yesterday.

Foo, who is based in Los Angeles, is back home with his parents here for four days since Saturday.

Since joining the industry in 1997, he has worked on movies like Men in Black 2 and contributed to the research and development of The Polar Express.

A graduate of Cornell University in New York with two Masters degrees in engineering physics and computer graphics, Foo said he could have chosen to become a Nasa scientist or Silicon Valley engineer.

“But I’ve always loved the idea of working in movies since I was in school.

“My favourite film is Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas because of its creativity and its beautiful score, music, animation and design,” he said.

“My dream is to do the visual effects for an Asian film one day, perhaps even a Malaysian animated feature,” said Foo.

[New Movie] Puteri Gunung Ledang
08.03.04 (1:13 am)   [edit]

[View Trailer]

The historic Malaysian kingdom of Melaka was once one of the world's great trading ports and the most powerful maritime empire in South-East Asia. Puteri Gunung Ledang is set in the thriving 15th century Melaka Sultanate and the grand Javanese kingdom of Majapahit. History, mythology and fiction are fused to tell a fateful tale of forbidden love, in a time when allegiance and honour to country are foremost to personal desires.
Gusti Putri Retno Dumillah (Tiara Jacquelina), a Princess of the Majapahit Kingdom, has fallen profoundly in love with one of Melaka’s most commanding and spirited warriors, Hang Tuah (M. Nasir). A vivid dream compels the Princess to commit the unspeakable and leave her assigned palace life. Without consent from her King, she sets sail across the open seas with the unflinching hope that she can be reunited with her one true love.
Soon after the Princess’ parting, the Majapahit Kingdom is attacked by the powerful Javanese Kingdom of Demak. Desperate to quell the invasion, Gusti Putri's brother and King, Gusti Adipati Handaya Ningrat (Alex Komang), initiates a plan to offer his sister's hand in marriage to the Prince of Demak. Her absence renders this solution impossible. The King's only hope for security is to forge an alliance with the mighty Melaka Sultanate by offering his sister's hand in marriage to Sultan Mahmud Shah of Melaka.
The Sultan accepts. But the Princess is unable to bring herself to do this as she could not bear to be his Queen. The Princess instead offers to marry the Prince of Demak. But the indignant Sultan will not accept rejection nor will he be publicly humiliated. He plots to ensure that he will, at all costs, marry the Princess.
Hang Tuah is ordered to head the royal delegation and propose to Gusti Putri on behalf of the Sultan. The warrior devotedly leads the convoy up Gunung Ledang in search of the woman he deeply loves. The Princess attempts to curtail their advance, but eventually she yields to Hang Tuah's appeal.
After a fleeting and tender reunion, the Princess is painfully aware that her beloved's foremost duty is that of a warrior. Despite confessing his love for her, he will not forsake the Sultan's wishes. Brokenhearted, she agrees to marry the Sultan on the proviso that he is able to solve and fulfill seven riddles.
When the Sultan learns of the Princess’ prohibitive conditions he is even more determined to marry her.
Will he sacrifice his own son’s life to fulfill the final riddle? Will Hang Tuah and the Princess ever find happiness together?

The historic Malaysian kingdom of Melaka was once one of the world’s greatest seaports and a powerful empire in South-East Asia. History imparts that Parameswara, a fugitive Prince from Palembang, Sumatra, who arrived in Melaka after fleeing from Temasik, founded this thriving capital in the early 1400s.
Melaka’s strategic location, which sat astride the prosperous East-West maritime trade route, allowed Parameswara and his followers to establish Melaka as the first maritime power based in Malaya. Its rise from a village of royal refugees to a wealthy empire and international centre for trade and commerce was swift.
During Melaka’s golden years, the Sultan of the kingdom was the supreme ruler. His power was absolute. He was advised by his Prime Minister (or Bendahara) and served by skilful and powerful warriors.
The Melaka Sultanate era is the setting for Puteri Gunung Ledang, an epic drama framed by slices of history and ancient folklore. Historical facts and mythology are fused to tell this tale of forbidden love, set in a time when allegiance and honour to country overwhelmed personal needs and desires. The story depicts a very real, modern and familiar conflict between one’s duty and one’s self. The proverbial notion of destiny is alluded to and the message pronounces that one’s fate cannot be evaded.

Spiderman 2>>>
06.30.04 (2:20 am)   [edit]

Two years have passed since the mild-mannered Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) walked away from his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and decided to take the road to responsibility as Spider-Man. Peter must face new challenges as he struggles with "the gift and the curse" of his powers while balancing his dual identities as the elusive superhero Spider-Man and life as a college student.
Peter's life-long yearning for M.J. becomes even stronger as he fights the impulse to abandon his secret life and declare his love. In the meantime, M.J. has moved on with her life. She has embarked on an acting career and has a new man in her life. Peter's relationship with his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco) has been overshadowed by Harry's growing vendetta against Spider-Man, whom he holds responsible for his father's death.
The relationships Peter holds most dear are now in danger of unraveling as he clashes with the powerful, multi-tentacled villain Doctor Octopus aka "Doc Ock" (Alfred Molina). Peter must now learn to accept his fate and harness all his superhero talents in order to stop this diabolical madman in his octagonal tracks.
